Rita Griswold of West Hartford, daughter of the late Lee and Ellen Griswold, passed away January 17, 2022. She will always be remembered by those who loved her for her Catholic faith, for how she valued education, and for her courage and tenacity pursuing social justice and women’s rights. Rita was most proud of being an Associate Member of the Sisters of Mercy, her decades as a professor at St. Joseph College, and for her degree in business law. She was passionate about art, serving as a docent at the New Britain Museum of American Art for years and spent her time in retirement volunteering in local school systems, teaching young students to read.

Visiting hours will be Monday, January 24, from 9-10:30 am at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford.
