Obituary for Ralph R. Hellyar

Ralph R. Hellyar, 83, of Farmington, formerly of Newington, beloved husband of Judy (Iannetta) Hellyar, to whom he was married for 60 years, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024. Born in Hartford, he lived in Newington for 50 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Ralph owned and operated Hellyar Landscaping for 52 years. He loved gardening, fishing, and baking. He enjoyed watching televised college sports, especially his grandson’s alma mater Auburn University, while they texted back and forth during the games.

He and Judy have special memories of their annual trips to Cape Cod and visits to Eric in California. He was happiest with and taking care of his immediate and extended family.

Besides his wife Judy, Ralph is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric of West Hollywood, CA and Todd and Cindy of Avon, CT; his beloved grandson, Dylan Hellyar of Newport Beach, CA; his brothers, Paul (Carolyn) and William Lewis (Franca); his sister, Beverly Doiron (Henry); and his sisters-in-law, Linda Hellyar and Brenda Hellyar. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Gary, and Richard Hellyar.

Calling hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 on Saturday, January 27, at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford.
