Obituary for Phyllis Ricciuti (Bellizzi)

Phyllis Ricciuti , age 98, of Westbrook, dearly loved wife of the late John Ricciuti died on June 23, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. Born on July 3, 1922 in the town of San Basile, Province of Cosenza, Italy, she was the only child of the late John and Teresa Bellizzi, who came to America in 1935 settling in Hartford. She was also predeceased by her special cousin Jimmy Bellizzi. Prior to her marriage, Phyllis worked for The Royal Typewriter Company in Hartford.
She married her husband John on February 7, 1948 in Our Lady Sorrows Church in Hartford. They shared a devoted marriage of 63 years until John's death in 2011. She deeply missed him every day. Phyllis and John lived for 52 years in their home at 47 Walter Avenue in West Hartford. They took great pride in their home and took loving care of it. Phyllis was a beautiful woman with a flair for fashion. She loved to shop and enjoyed many outings with her daughter to Downtown Hartford and Westfarms Mall. Phyllis was an accomplished seamstress creating beautiful doll clothes, blankets, needlepoint and crochet items. After her husband's death, Phyllis made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Newington and subsequently in Westbrook. Phyllis was a faithful member of Annunciation Parish in Newington and in prior years the Church of Saint Mark the Evangelist in West Hartford.
She will always be remembered with love by her daughter Theresa Ganci and husband Emanuele; grandson Michael Ganci and his life partner Alexandra Flores; granddaughter Elizabeth Shilati and husband Shahryar; great-grandchildren Dustin Ganci and wife Terra, Samantha Perez, and Havyn, Brielle and Tyler Ganci, and great great grandson Michael Edward Ganci. She leaves special friends Jodi Fyfe, Dana Ganci and Angela Massaro. She also leaves her brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Although Phyllis will be deeply missed, we are happy that she is now reunited with her dear husband John in Heaven.
