Obituary for Patricia Louise Foley ((Gorman) )

Patricia Louise (Gorman) Foley (79), widow of the late Patrick J. Foley of West Hartford passed away peacefully at her home on December 8, 2020 with her children by her side. Born in Springfield, MA on February 15, 1941 to the late Francis and Eleanor (Farland) Gorman she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and received her BSN from Boston University in 1963. Patricia grew up in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield where she developed a love of her Irish heritage. She was fortunate to make several trips to Ireland in the 1960’s with her grandfather Mike serving as his driver where she developed an enduring relationship with the O’Gorman family in Gowerhass. Patricia met Patrick in Springfield, but it was only fitting that he had emigrated from County Clare. They married in 1971 and continued their journeys to Ireland together until his death in 2010.

Patricia worked as an RN in area nursing homes for several decades ultimately retiring in 2006. Upon her retirement, she devoted her time to being the best Nana and driver for her friends. She enjoyed playing cards with the ladies on Friday evenings and at the Irish American Home.

Patricia is survived by her three children, Eileen Allgrove and her husband Iver of West Hartford; PJ Foley and his wife Catherine of West Hartford; and Kara Foley of Newington; her six grandchildren, Ronan, Kiara, Declan, Charlie, Clare and Ella; a sister Meg Lane and her husband Roy; and her brother-in-law Robert Keough; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister Maureen Keough. The family would like to thank her hospice nurse Brigid and caregivers Donna, Mirna, Latisha, Luraine, Rosa and Violet for the care they provided during her illness.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the Irish American Home Society Scholarship Fund, 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
