Obituary for Mildred Randazzo (Marvin)

Mildred "Timmy" Marvin Randazzo, 97, of West Hartford, died at home on September 2, 2018. Born July10,1921 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Reverend Ernest J. Marvin and Henrietta (Meyer) Marvin, she was the wife of the late Nicholas Randazzo of West Hartford. A graduate of Lawrence High School, Lawrence, NY (1939), and Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA (1943), where she earned a BA in English and her nickname "Timmy". Timmy earned a Masters degree from Trinity College, Hartford (1945), one of the first women to graduate from that program. Timmy was a teacher at the Newington Children's Hospital for more than 40 years (1945-1985). She taught history and English, in a unique and challenging hospital classroom environment. She maintained life-long friendships with many of her former students and coworkers. Timmy was a volunteer Sunday school teacher at the First Church of Christ, West Hartford, where she was a member for almost 60 years. She is survived by her sister, Ruth (Marvin) Cuprak of Richmond, ME; her son James Randazzo and his wife Susan Pennington of West Hartford; her son David Randazzo of Boston, MA; her daughter Susan Randazzo of West Hartford; her grandson, Nicholas Volpe and his wife Svenja of Simsbury; and her grandson, Mario Volpe. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Joseph Randazzo, of Amelia Island FL; and many nieces and nephews and their families worldwide. A Funeral Service will be held at The First Church of Christ, 12 South Main Street, West Hartford at 11 am on Friday September 7, 2018. Friends wishing to make donations in memory of Timmy can give to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, or to a charity of their choice.
