Obituary for Mildred Herms (Carlo)
Mildred Carlo Herms, loving mother, Nana and Grammy, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2018.
Born in Hartford May 25, 1924, she was the daughter of Michael & Maria (Maselli) Carlo. She graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1942 with high honors. She made her home in West Hartford with her husband of 62 years, Richard H Herms. She worked alongside Richard at Huron Machine Products for 30 years. Mildred loved to sing and dance, play cards, and go to bingo. She was also a member of the ladies 9 hole golf league at Wethersfield Country Club. She enjoyed cooking, so much so that she was known to many as “the muffin lady. She was so proud of her Italian heritage. Family was her priority, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her daughters Janice MacLean (Robert) and Michele Zito; grandchildren, Stacey Murphy (Todd), Rob Murphy (Erin), Jason Zito (Jamie) and Craig Zito (Holly),10 great grandchildren and sisters-in-law RoseMary Carlo and Elizabeth Carlo as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard H Herms, sister Carmela Devanney, brothers Russell Carlo and Nicholas Carlo and son-in-law George R Zito. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maple View Manor for their caring services.
Calling hours are 8:30-9:30a.m. on Monday, December 17, at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. Followed by Mass at 10:00 at The Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
