Obituary for Michael Brendon Meskill

Michael Brendon Meskill, 75, of West Hartford, CT and Naples, FL died at his home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Bren was born October 9, 1940 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Michael J. and Helen (Donahue) Meskill. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Hartford in 1963 and in the same year, was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges. He earned an MBA from Syracuse University in 1965 and went on to study for an additional year in the doctoral program. Bren had a lengthy and successful career in the banking industry where he served as Senior Vice President in the commercial banking area with Hartford National Bank, later to become Bank of America. After his retirement, he spent five years at Savings Bank of Manchester. He was involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations. He served as a Director of Erickson Metals Corporation and also served for twenty years, including a period of time as President, at the Intensive Education Academy located in West Hartford, CT. Bren was also involved with the Greater Hartford United Way and was a member of the American Leadership Forum and the Hartford Golf Club.

Brendon leaves three sisters, Margaret Zangari of Wethersfield, CT, Marilyn Beckerman of West Hartford, CT and Louise Wennerberg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Alice Meskill and Geraldine Murphy and by his brother John Meskill.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford, CT on Friday at 10:00 am. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Contributions may be made to the University of Hartford, Helen Donahue Meskill Endowed Scholarship Fund, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117 or to the Intensive Education Academy, 840 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06117.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. William's Church, Naples, FL , at a later date.
