Obituary for Melo Jose F.
Jose F. Melo, 83, of Newington, formerly of West Hartford, beloved husband of Deolinda (Sousa) Melo passed away at home on Thursday, September 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, Jose moved to Hartford in 1971. He was a resident of West Hartford for many years, prior to moving to Newington. Prior to his retirement Jose was employed in construction.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Zelia M. Melo of Newington and a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel S. and Kristine Melo of Coventry; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and Maria Melo of West Hartford and Manuel and Beatriz Melo of Newington; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maria and Manuel Gomes of Hartford and Natalia and Manuel Barros of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. Jose was predeceased by his son, Joey Melo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (September 25), 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are prior to the funeral mass from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.
