Obituary for Maureen R. Mylott (Boyle)

Maureen (Boyle) Mylott , a longtime resident of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 surrounded by her family. The oldest daughter of Thomas and Nora Boyle, Maureen was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St Mark the Evangelist Church (Parish of St. Gianna). She graduated from New Britain High School and began her administrative assistant career at Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford. Maureen married John Mylott in January, 1959 and was a stay-at-home mom with daughters Laura and Susan for many years. Maureen re-entered the workforce in the 1970’s and retired from an administrative position in the Chemistry Department at Trinity College in Hartford. During her tenure at Trinity, she mastered both the PC and Mac computers as the computer age began. Maureen cherished her many friendships with staff in the chemistry department. On warm days, she could be found golfing with John, and together they enjoyed many vacations with lifelong friends in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Maureen and John also enjoyed several overseas trips to Italy, Ireland, Israel and Egypt. Maureen volunteered throughout her life and particularly enjoyed her time assisting individuals in hospice care and job coaching students in the Wethersfield Public School System. Maureen’s special joy was spending time with her grandsons, Alex and Kevin. In addition to John, her husband of 60 years, Maureen is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Drs. Laura Mylott and Stanley Kankowski of Milford, NH and Susan and David Smith of Wethersfield and their two sons, Alex of Beverly, MA and Kevin of Wethersfield, John’s sisters Marietta Freeman of Red Bank, NJ and Marilyn and her husband Joseph Scagliuso of Howell, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Maureen was pre-deceased by her sister Sheila Magnano. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning 9:00AM -10:30AM at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home on 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford, CT, followed by a funeral mass at 11AM at St. Marks the Evangelist Church (parish of St. Gianna) at 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, CT.
