Obituary for Mary M. Frost

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary M. Frost, 93, of West Hartford, on March 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert W. Matchett, her late husband James “Jack” W. Frost and her son Bruce D. Matchett. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her two children: her son, Robert W. Matchett and her daughter, Deborah M. Doll and her husband Gerald Foster. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard A. Doll, Lisa D. Tovar and her husband Nicholas Tovar, Robert Matchett Jr. and his wife Holly Matchett, and Christie Poma and her husband Victor Poma Jr.; and her great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Victor III, Lauren, Brynlee, Isabel, Marianna, Gianna, Kayleigh, Peyton and Jordan.

Mary was an independent, strong woman who achieved what she set out to do no matter how difficult. She was a fighter up until the end of her life. Nothing stood in her way. She loved her job as an accountant for the State of Connecticut. When she retired, Mary and her husband Jack loved to go antiquing. Painting was her joy-specifically watercolors and Tole painting. Gardening, both flowers and vegetables for canning, was a passion for her. Mary was an amazing seamstress and she loved sewing with fabrics. Traveling anywhere with her husband, be it to Alaska or to the beach, gave her a full life. She deeply loved her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be forever cherished.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 1pm at New Abington Cemetery, 592 Mashamoquet Road, Pomfret Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
