Obituary

Mary-Ellen Donahue, of Hartford, beloved eldest daughter of the late Camilla Tricarico Donahue and Daniel F. Donahue, Sr., died gracefully on October 19, 2019. Born in Hartford April 26, 1948, Mary-Ellen attended Our Lady of Sorrows Church & School and South Catholic High School. Modern dance was her passion and she studied the art form in many different venues from 1966 until the mid-1970's, earning an Associate in Arts Degree from Hartford College for Women in 1971. After earning a Teachers Certificate in Dance from the Hartford Ballet Company, she went on to teach dance to different age groups in Greater Hartford. She especially enjoyed teaching dance to children. Mary-Ellen is survived by two sisters, a brother, and their spouses, Camilla and Michael P. Hynes of West Hartford; Patricia and Chet Camilleri of Greer, SC; and Daniel F. Donahue, Jr. and Susan Harrod of Ashford, CT. She leaves a niece, Catherine Hynes; a nephew, Thomas Camilleri; and a nephew and his wife, Michael D. Hynes and Jeanette August and their two children.She also leaves a dear uncle, John Donahue, of Dedham, MA as well as first cousins, their spouses, children and grandchildren in Greater Boston, Florida and Georgia. Besides her parents, Mary-Ellen was predeceased by a nephew, James M. Hynes. Mary-Ellen’s family extends its gratitude to the caring nurses, aides and staff at Chelsea Place Care Center and Hartford Healthcare Hospice.There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. A funeral mass will be held at St. Brigid Church, New Britain Ave., West. Hartford on Nov. 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. No flowers please. Mary Ellen was one of my roommates a long time ago while she was studying at Hartford Ballet. Always soft spoken and kind she was a beautiful person. I am sorry for your loss and everyone's loss who knew her.
