Obituary for Mary M. Donahue

Mary M. Donahue, 91, of Hartford, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, surrounded by family and joined the love of her life, Jimmy, in heaven. Mary was born at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford on September 6, 1932. She is predeceased by her parents, Rudy and Olive Manseault, her sister, Cecilia and husband Joe Paul, and her son-in-law, Bruce Walgren, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Bernice and husband John Cooper. Mary and Jimmy created a beautiful home full of love and fun with their six children and Jimmy’s dad, Grampa Jim. Mary is now watching over her family from heaven with joy and pride: JD Donahue (Lynda); Stephen Donahue (Suzanne) and their children Kelly (Stephen), Meghan, Patrick (Christina), Brendan and Katelyn; Mary Donahue-Wold (Don); Debbie Walgren (the late Bruce Walgren, Jr.) and their children Alison Friar (Topher) and Kyla Walgren; Susan Duflo (Peter) and their children Christopher Duflo (Kaele) and Adam Duflo; Kevin Donahue (Jane) and their children Nathan, Erin and Jake. Mary also leaves behind great-grandchildren Nora, George, Maeve and Henry Gannon; Porter and Piper Friar; Koa Duflo. They will all grow up knowing the love and kindness their Grandma Mary brought to the world. Mary also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins she loved dearly. Mary enjoyed gardening, golf, tennis and bridge, but her favorite thing to do was play cards with friends and family. She was known as quite the card shark! The family is very grateful for the wonderful, loving care Mary received from the staff at Avery Heights Nursing Home and McLean Hospice Care.
