Obituary for Marianne Black
Marianne Black, 102, lifelong resident of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2018. Born on April 7, 1916, daughter of the late Maud (Downs) and John G. Black, and was a graduate of Hall High School and lived in West Hartford all her life.
Marianne was employed with The Travelers Insurance Company for many years and retired as Supervisor. She was a member of the West Hartford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed living with her family at her beloved family home where she had been born, built by her father in 1916. She was able to achieve her goal of remaining in her home throughout her later years, until her passing. The family wishes to extend special appreciation to Margarett Wright, her daily caregiver, and Jessica Dakin, APRN, geriatric care manager (both of Hartford HealthCare) for their help in making this possible.
Marianne is survived by one nephew Arthur and his wife Ruth Black; many great nieces and nephews; and especially great nephew John Ciemniewski. She was predeceased by three brothers Wallace, Robert and John 'Mal' Black; and two sisters Laura and Dorothy Black.
