Marian
B.
Bachta
Marian B. Bachta, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of West Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022. She was 100 years old.
Marian was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Joseph (Joe) Bachta. Together they created their beautiful family who Marian leaves behind: daughter Diane Zalewski, her late husband Eddy, and their daughter Sarah, her husband Alok and their children Kethan and Zoe; son Robert Bachta, his wife Kate, and their son Jacob; and daughter Linda Lough, her husband Dan, their daughter Kate and her fiancé Nick, son Drew and his wife Lucy with their baby on the way, and son Ryan and his girlfriend Rose. When the family was so often happily all together they would say, “Mom, look at what you created! We wouldn’t all be here without you.”
Marian was born on February 14, 1922 in Easthampton, MA, daughter to the late Karol Bielanski and Veronica Bielanski (Adamek). Her Valentine’s Day birthday was significant, as she was a true sweetheart -- she radiated kindness, love, and held a constantly happy outlook. Marian’s world was her family. She was the youngest of 5 children. She loved get-togethers with her brothers Walter and Johnny and with her sisters Jean and Helen and their families.
Marian and Joe met at the Polish National Home in Hartford, CT. He called her his "love" and they were partners for 61 years. In their younger days, they could be found at the Red Sox games on "ladies nights". As they grew older, their adventures ranged from anniversary trips to Puerto Rico to family outings down south. Marian loved an adventure and enjoyed traveling anywhere, but most of all loved the trips with Joe and her children to Miami Beach and to Hilton Head Island. Hilton Head grew to become a special place and second home for her children and their families, and Marian relocated from West Hartford to Hilton Head with her two daughters in 2017.
Marian had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great game player, whether at bridge, board games or her specialty, Chinese checkers, which she always won. The family would often marvel at how lucky of a person she was -- whether it was sitting in the right seat at a Hartford Whalers game to win the prize, or getting her raffle ticket drawn at the Sea Pines tennis exhibition, or picking the perfect card to win a family game, somehow she always had that magic touch. Perhaps it was the world giving back to a person that just deserved the best, because that is what she gave to everyone around her.
Marian’s pure heart and love for her family was a beautiful thing to behold. As a grandma, she had endless patience for make-believe games, trips to the science center, and watching performances. As a great-grandma, she greeted the little ones with huge hugs, big smiles, and excitement for anything and everything they were doing. We can't believe she is gone, but we treasure the many, many wonderful years we had.
