Margaret “Marge” Mazzoccoli, 72, of Unionville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on September 3, 1950. She grew up in Newington, where she met her future husband, Rocco Mazzoccoli. They have resided in Unionville since 1980.

Margaret had an artistic soul she indulged throughout the years. She was famous for her crocheting, her legendary holiday cookie platters and breads, and most of all her stunning stained-glass creations. 

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Eunice and Samuel Scharr; her brother, Phillip Scharr and her precious infant son, Rocco Damian Mazzoccoli.

Marge is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Rocco Mazzoccoli; her beloved daughter, Xanthea Mazzoccoli of Plainville; her siblings, Nadine Keane of Griswold, Gregory Scharr of Gales Ferry, and Paige (Andrew) Weinstein of West Haven; her brother-in-law, Joseph Mazzoccoli of Newington, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A brief funeral service will immediately follow. If attending the service, please consider wearing bright colors, especially purple, which was Margaret’s favorite color.
