Obituary for Marcia M. Hublitz

Marcia (Morley) Hublitz, 77, of West Hartford, beloved wife of 41 years to Martin P. Hublitz, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 after an over five year battle with cancer.

Born in Hartford, Marcia was the daughter of Rissel C. Morley and Barbara (Swift) Morley. Marcia graduated from Conard High School and went on to attend the Barbazon School for Women in NY. While in NY she studied art and dealt in oil painting and Christmas ornaments. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Marcia continued with art classes in Vermont with Arthur Jones, who at 92 years old, died four days before she passed away. Marcia was a member of the West Hartford Art League, as was her mother before her. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Hartford for many years before going on to attend Church of Christ Congregational in Newington.

Besides her parents, Marcia was predeceased by her stepmother, Apple (Ives) Morley; her two sisters, Marilyn Tanner and Janet Siers; and her stepson, Robert “Bob” Hublitz.

Marcia is survived by her husband Martin P. Hublitz; step-daughter Kelly Hublitz of Enfield, CT; grandchildren Daniel Hublitz, Kirstyn Ruiz, Jordan Ruiz and Gabriel Ruiz, all of Enfield, CT; brother-in-law Alvin Tanner of Bow, NH and numerous neices and nephews, including Nancy Joy Tanner of Allentown, NH, Suzanne Tanner Weston (Jim) of Rockland, MA, John Siers of FL, Aimee E. Siers of Framingham, MA, Barbara “Barbie” Siers Trayhan (Scott) of Merrimack, NH and her godchildren, Debbie, James, Daniel, Jonathan and David, all who have scouting backgrounds, along with Indian ceremonial training and traditions.

Marcia also leaves behind her friends Pam Lynne Fontana of Pembroke Pines, FL, Kathy Menengas of Provincetown, MA, Barrie Prevuznak of Hilton Head, SC and Arlene Barton of Charleton, SC.
