Obituary for Marcella (Levasseur) Walz

Marcella (Levasseur) Walz, 91, of West Hartford, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Marcella was born on May 14, 1932, to Emily and Ernest Levasseur in Van Buren, ME. She was the eleventh of fourteen siblings. Marcella and her family moved to Hartford, when she was 13 years old. She was a graduate of Hartford High School, class of 1950. Marcella went on to hold a career as a secretary for many years, along with being a homemaker for her family.

Marcella met her husband, George Walz, in 1948 at the roller-skating rink. They went on to get married on September 5, 1952. They were happily married for just shy of 60 years when George passed away in March of 2012. They had two children together, Kathleen Erickson and James Walz.

In their retirement, George and Marcella enjoyed traveling the world, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Marcella was predeceased by her husband, George Walz; her daughter, Kathleen Erickson; and her grandson, Christopher Erickson. She is survived by her son, James Walz and his wife Tracey White; her two granddaughters, Lauren Lovkay and Victoria Richard; and her three great-grandchildren, Kennedy Lovkay, Grace Richard, and Lucas Lovkay.
