Obituary for Kevin R. Ritchie

Kevin R. Ritchie, 67 of Manchester, CT, passed away on December 15, 2021. Kevin was born on June 18, 1954 in Hartford Hospital to Robert and Norma (Harvey) Ritchie in the year the hospital celebrated it's "Centennial Anniversary”. His parents were given a certificate acknowledging him as a “Centennial Baby”.

Kevin worked at the Hartford Post Office for several years before retiring. He was an avid basketball player. His greatest accomplishment and proudest moment was when he was chosen to represent the U.S.A. in the Deaf Olympics held in 1977 in Bucharest Romania. Kevin and his team won the Gold Medal. Kevin led his team to victory scoring 23 out of 30 points for the win.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Laura (Murphy) Ritchie of Glastonbury and his daughters Sara Ritchie of Bolton, Jennifer Harvey and her husband Michael of Glastonbury and Kathryn Ritchie of Manchester. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Corryl and Lucas Mooney, Kaylee and Patrick Harvey and Joshua Schofner. He leaves his brother David Ritchie and wife Susan of Raleigh, NC, his sister Marcia Suess and husband Gary of Newington and several extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am with the Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 am. Masks are required. There will be no Burial Service.
