Joseph “Joe” M. Calvi, 66, of Enfield, beloved son of Thomas and Marie Calvi, passed away on December 9, 2022.

Joe was born in Hartford, CT and grew up in West Hartford where he attended West Hartford Public Schools and graduated from Conard High School in 1974. Joe attended the Hartford Modern School of Welding where he learned his trade. Joe’s first job was at Electric Boat in Groton where he honed his welding skills before moving on to a lifelong career at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford. Joe was a current employee at Pratt with over 44 years of loyal service. Joe had a passion for firearm instruction, competitive shooting and for the many students whom he taught how to safely and legally operate and maintain firearms. Joe was a longtime member of the NRA and was a certified firearms instructor.

Joe is survived by his mother Marie (Lauzier) Calvi of Newington, CT; a sister Brenda Anderson of Hyannis, MA, a brother Thomas J. Calvi of West Hartford, CT and wife Susan, and a brother John F. Calvi of West Hartford, CT. He is also survived by a niece Katie Parache of Hyannis, MA and her daughter Marianna, a niece Elizabeth Calvi and a nephew Nicholas Calvi, both of West Hartford, CT. Joe also leaves his son Levente Peter and wife Tammy of Cape May, NJ, whom he loved deeply. Joe was predeceased by his father Thomas Calvi of Newington, CT.

Calling hours are Sunday, (December 18), from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, (December 19), 10:00 a.m. at Saint Brigid Church, 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.  Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
