Obituary for Joseph Andre Renald "Ray" Roy

Joseph Andre Renald “Ray” Roy of Hartford, CT beloved husband of Marguerite Marie Anne (Dube) Roy died suddenly at home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born in Biddeford, Maine on June 12, 1934 to the late Zepherin and Fresilda (Cyr) Roy and was married to Marguerite for 63 years.

Ray was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Hartford, CT and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, former Grand Knight, as well as several other positions as a Knight of the St Mark Council. He was a member of the Sportsmen Club, All Timers, lifetime member of the French Social Circle Club and the New Park Avenue Senior Center.

Ray worked at Whitney Chain for 30 years in Accessory Control Management and Centerless Grinding Company until retiring. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved bowling and was in several duckpin leagues, played horseshoes, pool, cribbage and loved music.

One of 13 children, Ray is survived by his brother Paul of Portland, Maine. He is also survived by his six children Anne Marie Turner (predeceased by her husband Tom) from Brunswick, Maine, Irene Albert and her husband Steve of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, Andre Roy and his wife Lisa of South Glastonbury, CT, Therese Nadeau and her husband Gilles of Plainville, CT, Kathleen Tuohy and her husband Bob of Prospect, CT, Nancy Fortin and her husband Patrick of East Windsor, CT; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister in law Diane Dube of East Windsor, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ray is predeceased by many brothers, sisters, brother and sister in-laws, as well as a grandson, Robby Albert, who he deeply adored.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Ave, Hartford, CT.  Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the Church.
