Obituary for Joseph Edgar Jeffers

Joseph Edgar "Eddie" Jeffers, 85, of West Hartford, CT passed away on Wednesday, December 16, at St Francis Hospital from complications of Covid-19.

Eddie was born in Hartford to Frank and Louise Jeffers, and was beloved and cherished by family and friends alike.

He worked for many years at the Hartford Golf Club and took great pride in his work.
Eddie was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets, the New Britain Rock Cats and especially the Hartford Whalers, where he attended many games. He loved attending old car shows. He loved animals and was devoted to his pets, and was fiercely loyal to all of his friends over the years.
Eddie spent his last few years at St Mary’s Home in West Hartford, where he was known by his fellow residents and staff as a happy and friendly person. We wish to thank the residents and staff of St Mary’s who helped him keep his independence.

The family wishes to thank Rise/Community Enterprises/Viability for their support of Eddie and their friendship with him over the years. We also wish to thank the social workers and aides that gave him assistance. They all made a huge contribution to Eddie’s life.

Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Louise Jeffers, and his sister, Frances O’Connell. He will be loved and sadly missed by his nephew Jay O’Connell and his wife Nancy, niece Tracy O’Connell, and cousin Lynn Jeffers Blake of Carbonear, Newfoundland.
