Obituary for John Titus
John Titus, 79, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018. John was born in Hartford, on February 26, 1939, son of the late John and Theresa (Ferrante) Titus. He was raised in Hartford and resided in the Hartford area all of his life. He worked at Aetna Ambulance for fifty years as an ambulance driver, EMT and manager. Aetna was deeply grateful for his business sense, personal care and commitment. John loved big band era music, and he enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and San Francisco to watch his friend, Sam Butera perform. He took much pride in keeping his Cadillacs in pristine condition. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.
John will be fondly remembered by his loving family; his nephews, Thomas F. Gaffey and his wife Kathleen, of Palm Coast, Florida, Timothy J. Gaffey and his wife Lynn, of Rocky Hill, and Richard Gaffey of Portland; his two nieces, Susan G. Hulme of Rocky Hill and Sharon R. Lauzon and her husband Robert, of Wethersfield and all of his great-nieces and great-nephews as well as Diane Evans and family of Glastonbury.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene Gaffey and her husband Thomas and the Grady family, Howard, Herman, Ethel and Jean.
Funeral procession will be Wednesday, December 26, at 10:30 AM from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating John’s life at 11:00 AM in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave, Hartford. Interment will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral procession from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
