John Albert Misteli, age 95 passed away peacefully in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on January 26,2021. John was born on April 6, 1925 to Louise and John Misteli in Elizabeth, NJ. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology, graduated in 1946, and began his career as a mechanical engineer. In 1956 John married Star D. Romoski, and they adopted their son Tom in 1968.
John spent much of his career with Pratt & Whitney/United Technologies; he retired in 1993. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America and volunteered at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center for over 25 years.
He will be deeply missed by his friends and colleagues, by those whose lives he touched through his volunteer work, and by his surviving family: son Tom (Michele), niece Suzanne Gorda (Ron), and grandnephew Robert Wuerthner (Jennifer; children Bobby and Emma). John was predeceased by his parents, his wife Star, their son John Paul, sisters Esther Wilkey (Jim) and Martha Wuerthner (Robert), nephews, Robert Wuerthner (Gail) and Fred Wuerthner (Helen), and grandniece Dawn Wuerthner.
A graveside service will be held on February 6, 2021 at 11 AM at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford, CT.
