Joan Helen Anton (nee Maas), wife of Rev. Carl J. Anton, died on January 3, 2023. Joan and Carl were married for 58 years. Joan was born in New London, CT of parents Rev. Arlin A. Maas and Helen G. Maas.

Joan was survived by 2 sisters: Carol Arlene Nagel (husband Dr. Norman) with their 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, and Ruth Maas Jones with her 2 children and 1 grandchild.

Joan was also survived by 2 sisters-in-law: Barbara A. Dietrich with her 2 children and 2 grandchildren, and Bette R. Anton.

Joan additionally was survived by cousin, Herbert G. Geisler Jr. (Greg) and several other cousins.

Joan was a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana with a degree in English. Joan was a teacher in several different schools. Joan also worked at Aetna. Her passions were reading and traveling.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on February 11, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church, located at Boulevard and South Main Street in West Hartford, CT. The service will be preceded by calling hours at 10:00 am. For those who are unable to attend in person the service will be live streamed. Please click here to join the service.

During Joan’s long battle with cancer, she and her husband, Carl, were truly blessed with an incredible amount of love and support from family members, friends, and their Bethany family.
