Obituary for Jerome E. Howard

Jerome E. Howard passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 14, 2019. He was born in Hartford, CT, on December 30, 1933.

Jerry was a graduate of Hartford High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and married his high school sweetheart, Ann Lewis. Jerry attended the University of Connecticut, after which he began serving the financial needs of educators and their families. As founder and President of Howard Financial Corporation, he enjoyed his profession for over 60 years.
He earned his CFP (Certified Financial Planner) in 1987 and was President of the American Society of CLU and ChFC from 1972 - 1973.

Jerry was an avid painter, Faxon poet in West Hartford and poet laureate in Key West. He was chairman of the Shelter Harbor Veteran’s group.

Jerry was predeceased by his loving wife and mother of his children, Ann Lewis Howard. He is now reunited with his three brothers Joseph, Robert, and Thomas.

Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marcia Yulo Howard, his son and business associate Michael J. Howard and wife Cynthia Basil Howard of West Hartford, daughter Sally Howard Burgess and husband Peter N. Burgess of Florida, son and business associate Gregory P. Howard of Bloomfield. Jerry was also a beloved father figure and mentor to so many others.
He leaves his sister Theresa Hahn and her husband Albert Hahn of North Granby.

Jerry was extremely proud of his grandchildren: Melissa Burgess Szczycinski (Michal), Mark P. Burgess. Elizabeth Howard Small (Jonathan), Katherine Howard Smith (Edward), Laura MacDonald Gerould (Ben), Sara MacDonald Thrift (Hudson) John Fuller Cpt. USMC, Claire Fuller. Additionally, he had 10 great grandchildren whom he cherished.

Calling hours are 4-7 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
