Obituary for Jeffrey J. D’Amato

Jeffrey J. D’Amato, 58, of Vernon, CT passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was the son of Judy and Donald D’Amato of Uncasville, CT and the late Dorothy (Luce) Sharp of Lake Placid, FL.

Jeff worked for Airgas for 20+ years. He was a firefighter for nearly three decades, most recently a member of Vernon Volunteer Fire Department and previously a member of the Cromwell, Newington, and Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Departments. He was an accomplished participant in The Cromwell Grenadiers and The Newington Fife and Drum Corps. Jeff was an avid race fan who attended local auto racing events and watched NASCAR. Jeff fell in love with the outdoors and went camping with his daughter Katie. He was a passionate Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Jeff was always ready to assist those who were in need and motivated many to make positive changes to become the best versions of themselves.

Jeff was a loving and devoted father of Kathleen D’Amato of Vernon, CT and Robert D’Amato of Colorado. He was predeceased by his sister Dawn White. He leaves behind siblings: April D’Amato of Uncasville, CT, Marji Matson of Bantam, CT, Michele Knudson of Northport, FL, Randy D’Amato (Robin) of Wallingford, CT and Michael Lentoski (JoAnne) of Macungie, PA and several nieces and nephews, including Elesha D'Amato and Logan Solomon. His dogs, Bear and Tucker will miss him.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 3 to 6 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will be private.
