Obituary for Jean M. Whyte

Jean M. Whyte, age 87, of Newington, formerly of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Lawrence P. Whyte, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 28, 2023 with her family by her side.

Jean was born June 27, 1936 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Emile and Matilda (McKay) St. Amand. Jean settled in Connecticut as a youngster and attended High school at Mount Saint Joesph Academy. Upon graduation Jean attended Saint Francis School of Nursing earning her Nursing degree. She then went on to attend Boston College.

Jean was employed as a registered nurse for many years at the Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company in Hartford. Prior to Aetna, Jean worked for several years in the Saint Francis Hospital Operating Room, and then spent time working directly with various Physicians.

Jean enjoyed travel, golf, baking, and “loudly” cheering at football games (live or on TV), but most of all Jean enjoyed spending time with her extremely close-knit group of friends.

Jean is survived by her life-long, and dearest friend, Mary (Donahue) Brazel and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Jean is predeceased by her husband Larry, and her brother Ted St. Amand.

Calling hours will be Monday, (December 4), from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford. Burial will be in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
