Obituary for Janet Lee Wetmore

Janet Lee Wetmore passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 11, 2023. She was born on August 3, 1950 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Gordon and Marie Wetmore. Janet graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence in 1968. After marrying in 1972, she spent much of the ‘70’s touring North America with “the band” before settling down and starting her family. She welcomed her “two beautiful red-heads” into the world and moved to East Granby, Connecticut in 1990 where she called Kimberly Road home for over 15 years and created some of her fondest memories. After an early retirement, she spent her final years in Newington, keeping a beautiful home and garden. She enjoyed watching the birds, always ensuring that her backyard visitors were well-fed and unbothered by the squirrels. In addition to her love for birds, Janet had a passion for genealogy, writing, history, and reading.

Janet leaves behind her daughters, Kristin King and son-in-law Pierre of New Britain; Andrea Rindone, son-in-law George Reid-Perry, and granddaughter Finley of Niantic; brothers, Richard (Kathie) Wetmore of Methuen, MA, Bill (Rose) Wetmore of Dover, DE; sister, Mary Wetmore (Dana) of Salem, MA and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to thank VITAS Hospice, especially Penelope and Izzy, and Mom’s caregivers, Marie and Charmaine for their compassion, care, and kindness.

Our time together was not nearly enough but we will cherish the memories made at holiday dinner tables and the many summers spent at Wells Beach in Maine – a place Janet held near and dear to her heart. Join us in celebrating Janet’s life on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home in West Hartford, CT. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Connecticut Audubon Society can be made in her honor.
