Jane B. Bak, 93, of River Ridge At Avon and formerly of Montclair Drive, West Hartford, passed way February 24, 2014. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, January 10, 1921, she was one of eight children born to Felix and Mary Filipkowski. She was a loving wife to Walter Bak for 63 years, until his passing in 2006. Jane is survived by her daughters, Joan Clinton of Florida,
Susan Bedford of Newington and son, Peter Bak of Prospect. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Jane is survived by one sister, Pauline Roberts, of Avon and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by six siblings: Josephine Filipkowski, Charles Filipkowski, Evelyn Gibson, Irene Rubinowski, Helen Maksimczyk and Ceceila Stoltz. Jane was an active participant at River Ridge At Avon, an assisted living facility, for the last six years. She loved bingo, puzzles, reading and daily crosswords. The staff and residents deserve recognition for their care and companionship. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Veterans Memorial Fund, 50 South Main St., West Hartford, CT 06107.
