Obituary for James V. Prindiville Jr.

James V. Prindiville Jr.
James V. Prindiville, Jr.,78, of Avon, passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday February 7, 2015. Jim was born in Hartford, the oldest son of Mildred (Marsden) and James V. Prindiville, Sr. He survived the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944 and went on to attend Hartford Public High School. He graduated from Ohio State University, and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Saint Joseph in 1965. Jim worked for many years at Heublein and later retired from the Federal Government, department of OSHA. Always the chemist, Jim found a way to add an element of celebration to his craft by inventing flavoring additives for liquor, which were purchased by companies in Poland and Honduras. Jim was proud of his Irish heritage, and exhibited it through his warmth, his humor, and his devotion to family. He was an avid fisherman, a huge Ohio State Buckeyes’ fan (and was thrilled with their recent championship) and a life-long brother of TKE Fraternity. Jim is survived by his brothers, Robert Prindiville of Burlington and Dr. David Prindiville of Manchester and his sister, Sally Cosker of Newington and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Kelly O’Brien (Gregory) of Southport and Corinne Dumais (Daniel) of Simsbury, and son Richard (Brenda) Prindiville of Jacksonville, FL., and his grandchildren who gave him the greatest joy, Miranda and Ryan Prindiville, Courtney, Christine & Owen Dumais and Dylan & Bridget O’Brien. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, February 10, from 5-8 PM at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Brigid, 1083 New Britain Ave., West Hartford on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family would like to thank the dedicated nurses, doctors and staff on the Congestive Heart Failure Unit at St. Francis Hospital who nursed him back to health through two open heart surgeries and treated him with the utmost care and kindness during his final days.
