Obituary

James "Jim" McCaffrey, 74, loving husband and soul mate of Barbara (Curylo) McCaffrey for 55 years, passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2019 to be reunited with his son Bob in heaven. Jim was born May 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mary McCaffrey and grew up in the Elmwood section of West Hartford. He worked for CT Printers for over 30 years prior to retiring from The Wood Group/Pratt & Whitney in Environmental Health & Safety. He was a diehard Notre Dame Football fan. His other love in sports was the Boston Bruins. He volunteered his time as a goal judge with the Hartford Wolfpack for over 20 years.
Jim was also a member of the Connecticut Hurricanes Senior Drum and Bugle Corp where he had been a member for many years. He was a member of the 1969 Corp when they won both the “Dream” and the National Championship. He was also a member of the Sphinx Shriners Drum Corp. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his daughter Karen Poulin, several grandchildren along with a very special great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Poulin. Jim also leaves two brothers, John McCaffrey (Annie) and Jay McCaffrey (Fran) along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his son Bob, he was predeceased by a sister Joan Hill.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, (March 20), 11:00 am at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours are Tuesday, (March 19), from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
