Herbert A. Seagren,88, of Newington, beloved husband of the late Janet (Burghoff) Seagren, died Thursday, April 10, 2014. Born in Berlin, son of the late John A. and Julia (Benson) Seagren, he was a resident of Newington most of his life. Herb was employed at Northeast Utilities for 35 years, prior to his retirement. He was an active member of the Elmwood Community Church, West Hartford for many years and was a WWII, US Army veteran. He is survived by his children, Gail Novak and her husband Peter of Berlin, LuAnn Hungerford of Bristol, Karen Raymond and her husband David of Patten, ME and Kimberly Gilleran and her husband Kevin of Berlin; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and his K9 companion, Randy. Besides his wife he is predeceased by a son, Bruce H . Seagren; two brothers, Henry Seagren and Roy Seagren and a sister Ruth Beveridge. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Road, West Hartford. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmwood Community Church.
