Harold J. Collins, 79, passed away on February 9, 2016 at St Mary Home in West Hartford, CT.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas Vincent Collins of Mendon, MA; sisters Mary Graham of Oxford, MA and Rita Collins-Faulkner of Oakland, CA; as well as by many nieces and nephews. Over the years, Harold made countless friends who will also miss him dearly.
After graduating from Commerce High School in Worcester, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a cook on many bases in the South.
Upon discharge from the Army, he worked at several high-end restaurants up and down the East Coast. He eventually worked his way back to New England and worked for the City of Hartford until his retirement.
Anyone who knew Harold had the honor and pleasure of being a friend of a very special person. Harold had the ability to immediately charm everyone he met with his open heart, his welcoming smile, his kindness, and his humor.

He would entertain for hours on end with his musical talent. He was an accomplished guitar player and particularly enjoyed playing and singing his two favorite songs, “The Cat Came Back” and “I Miss My Swiss Miss.” And one would have to travel to the Central Alps to find a better or more enthusiastic yodeler than Harold.
