Grace Moore Blood Reale of Hartford, West Hartford, and Wethersfield, widow of Robert F. Blood and Louis Reale, died peacefully on August 9, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Mineola, NY on October 29, 1930, Grace was the daughter of the late Seth Moore and Mary (Walsh) Moore. She graduated from Hall High School and attended St. Joseph College. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed by LIMRA for forty years.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, Grace's family was always the most important thing in the world to her. She enjoyed spending time with them and making many fond memories over the years. Grace was fascinated by family history and spent hours researching genealogy. While researching she discovered that she was related to two pilgrim families that sailed to America on the Mayflower: Elder William Brewster and Edward Doty. Grace belonged to the Mayflower Society, The National Daughters of the American Revolution, and many genealogy associations. She was very proud of her Irish/Yankee heritage. Grace loved to travel with her family on cruises to Bermuda, overseas trips to England, Ireland, Scotland, and the west coast. She was an excellent dancer, and her favorite dance was the Lindy. She was also an avid reader. After her retirement, she taught others to read at the Hartford Public Library.
Grace is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Blood Udice and her husband Dennis; her grandchildren, Laura Udice Parete and her husband Vincent Parete, and Michael Udice; her stepchildren, Robert Reale and his wife Kim Staley, and Joanne Stoddard; and her step-grandchildren, Benjamin Stoddard, and Peter, Kellianne, and Carson Reale. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Grace was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn; her brothers-in-law, Paul Dillberg and Richard Blood; her sisters-in-law, Bernadette Blood, and Eileen Blood Brennan; her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Reale Chappell and her husband David and her two nephews, Paul Dillberg Jr. and Thomas Brennan.
Grace was lovingly cared for by Laura and Tim Andre for five years, they have become members of the family. Grace thought of Laura as her adopted daughter and good friend. Thank you to Masonic Care for their care of Grace while she was in hospice. A special thank you to Mavis Aboagye who took loving and compassionate care of Grace at the end of her journey.
