Girard "Jerry" E. Haverty, 89 of Farmington CT, formally from West Hartford, passed away peacefully February 19, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Bristol, CT and was the son of the late Edmund and Fidelia (Girard) Haverty. He went to Hall High School and was blessed with a year at Kingswood before attending Brown University, where he was Captain of the Brown Bears Football team and 1954 class marshal graduate.
He married his high school sweetheart Beverly (MacQueen) Haverty and was a loving and devoted husband for 67 years. He will be missed by his children, David G. Haverty (Jan), Elizabeth Haverty Burns (Tim) and granddaughter Quinn Elizabeth Burns.
He is survived by his sister, June (Haverty) Remigino and sister in law Virginia (Merz) Haverty and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Edmund J. Haverty, Jr. and his brother in law, Lindy Remigino.
Jerry and his brother Ed ran E.J. Haverty, Inc., a construction company founded by their father E.J. ,that specializes in paving and site work in the greater Hartford area.
When he was not working, Jerry and his family enjoyed spending time in Naples, Florida and Okemo in Vermont. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, scuba diving and spending time with his buddies at the West Hartford Exchange Club. He loved football and went to many games of his beloved Bruins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, (February 26), 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, Farmington. Burial will be private.
