Obituary for George Wesley Skinner
George W. Skinner, 84, of Newington, husband of the late Sally Ann (Iacino) Skinner, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at UConn Health Center, Farmington.
Born in West Hartford, George was the son of the late Wesley T. and Julia (Guido) Skinner. He attended West Hartford schools. George graduated from Trinity College with a degree in Engineering and worked at Southern New England Telephone for 35 years.
He leaves his legacy through his five children: Wesley Skinner of Andover, MA, David Skinner of West Hartford, Julie Valentine of Newington, Maria Deming and her husband Robert of New Hartford, and John Skinner and wife Sandy of Mansfield, MA; 9 grandchildren: Kelly Azeredo and her husband Brett, Michael Valentine and his wife Julie, Kara and Kaitlyn Deming, Jennifer, Allison, Danielle, Heather, and Brooke Skinner; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Anne Iacino of Winsted and many extended family members. George also leaves Monica Italia with whom he spent many years of love and companionship. He was predeceased by his sisters Julia Roberts, Evelyn Schultz, and Theresa Walsh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Brigid Church in West Hartford. A private burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Newington Rapid Recovery Rehab Center and the nurses and staff of UConn Health Center for the compassion extended to their father.
