George J. Heldmann, Jr., of Venice, FL, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, at the age of 91 years old. George retired from the Orange Connecticut Police Department in 1989 and moved to Venice, FL where he was active with the Knights of Columbus and Epiphany Cathedral; he served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 503rd Airborne infantry regiment out of Fort Campbell, KY.

George was the oldest son born to George and Mary (nee Noonan) Heldmann, living his early years in Mount Lebanon, PA before moving to West Hartford, CT in 1939. George was predeceased by his beloved wife Carol, whom he married at Saint Brigid Church in West Hartford, CT in 1959. He leaves behind his daughters, Ann (Jeff) Ormrod of Venice, FL, Elizabeth (Luis) Salinas and Meg (Jim) Talalas of Branford, CT; his ten grandchildren, Veronica, Daniel, Matthew, Alyssa, Joseph, Timothy, Robert, Emerie, Abigail and Jason; his great-grandchildren, London, Austin, Zayden, Xander and Violet; and his siblings, James (Karen) Heldmann, Frances Beckerman and Joan Dooley. Besides his wife, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia and granddaughter Jessica, his parents George and Mary Heldmann, his sister Mary Hickey and his brother Joseph Heldmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT, on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with burial immediately following in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
