Obituary for Gaetane M. Bolduc

Gaetane (Busque) Bolduc, 90, was born in Ste Henedine, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late Josaphat Busque and Leone Gagne on February 18, 1932, passed away on February 3, 2023 in Newington, CT after a short illness. She married Florian E. Bolduc on July 7, 1951 and they followed a dream of a better life in America, raising five children in the French part of Hartford, and later moving to Elmwood. Gaetane was a strong and hardworking woman and raised her children to have good values and the foundation of a Christian upbringing. She loved to cook her family’s French recipes and enjoyed sewing and making her children clothes. In addition to being a homemaker, Gaetane worked outside the home as a seamstress at G. Fox & Co. Department Store in both downtown Hartford and Westfarms Mall. She loved being a seamstress and working in the world of fashion, even extending her talent working with furs.

Gaetane and Florian were members of “La Recontre” and made many friends. They enjoyed entertaining, hosting family gatherings, and celebrations at every opportunity. She and Florian traveled and visited friends and family in Canada and later, in their retirement years, they moved to Florida. Although they were missed by family, they loved it there.

Gaetane is survived by her loving children, Joanne (Bolduc) Tyrol and husband Lee, Marc Bolduc and wife Suzanne, Robert Bolduc and wife Jennifer, Susan (Bolduc) Samuels and husband Sylvester and Denny Bolduc and wife Cheryl; her seven grandchildren, Carolyn Bellizzi, Melissa Murphy, Darren Bolduc, Amanda Battle, Chloe Samuels, Caitlyn Bolduc and Emily Bolduc, as well as six great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and loved to spoil. She was predeceased by her loving husband Florian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (February 11th) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. All are asked to go directly to the Church. There are no calling hours. Entombment will follow in the Mount St. Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, PO Box 756, Osceola, WI 54020.
