Obituary for Frank P. DiFiglia

Frank Paul DiFiglia, 94, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, family and friends.  Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 22, 1928. He was the son of Jennie and Sam DiFiglia.

Frank was an accomplished musician, playing saxophone, flute and clarinet, and studied at the Washington School of Music, New York University and Carnegie Hall.  He played throughout New York and Long Island, and later formed his own orchestra.

Frank served in the United States Navy as a musician aboard the U.S.S. Leyte from 1946 to 1948 during the Korea War conflict. He was recalled to the Brooklyn Navy Yard from 1950 to 1951.

After moving to Connecticut he met his wife Ann. Together they shared a love of music. They performed in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior centers and various venues bringing much joy to their audiences.

Frank was a master of creating beautiful stain glass pieces. He was so happy to share those pieces with his family and friends.

He was an avid Mets fan and was proud to wear the Mets attire even during a losing season.

Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ann DeAnzeris DiFiglia; four daughters, Marianne Bergman (Alan), Denise Pugliese (Ralph), Susan Lofaro (Bobby) and Laura DiFiglia (fiance Rich Fenn); a son, Christopher DiFiglia (Colleen); and two stepsons Kevin Sultaire and Jeff Sultaire (Gina). He was a proud “Poppy” to his twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Leona Risi and Mildred DiFiglia, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 31 Main Street, East Haddam. Burial will be at a later date at Calverton Military Cemetery on Long Island.
