Obituary for Florence E. Callan

Florence E. Callan
Florence E. Callan, 95, of Newington, formerly of Wethersfield, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at West Hartford Health and Rehab Center. Born and raised in Hartford she was the daughter of the late James S. and Delia (Burns) Callan, and resided in Wethersfield and Newington, prior to moving to West Hartford. Florence was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Health over 45 years, retiring as an Administrative Assistant. She was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church, Newington. Florence is survived by her nephew, James C. Moore and his wife, Ruth of Sanford, ME; two nieces, Ruth Barningham and her husband, Stephen of Jericho, VT and Mary Ellen Strickland of Suffield and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her three sisters, Helen Moore, Evelyn Callan and Dorothy McCue. Calling hours will be Tuesday (March 29), from 5 to 7 pm at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. The funeral procession will be Wednesday, (March 30), 9:15 am from the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 am at Saint Mary's Church, Newington. Interment will be in the family plot at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
