Obituary for Evelyn Iacino White

Evelyn Iacino White, 83, of Farmington, CT passed peacefully away on September 28, 2018 with her family at her daughter’s home in Simsbury.

Evelyn was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 10, 1935, to Joseph and Francesca Iacino. She was the youngest of four daughters. The family moved to New Britain when Evelyn was a small child. She graduated from New Britain High School in 1953 and married Johnny White, a dashing sailor from Edenton, NC, in 1956. Johnny pre-deceased Evelyn in 1974.

Evelyn worked in the Administrative Offices of the West Hartford Schools until she retired in 1997. She had many friends including some that date back to her elementary school days. In her later years, she became active in the award winning Farmington Valley Chorus and travelled with them to competitions in Hawaii and Las Vegas. The Chorus and her granddaughter Allyson were two of her greatest joys. Evelyn was an avid reader and a phenomenal cook.

Evelyn is survived by her loving daughter Johanna Needham, her husband Alan, granddaughter Allyson, step-grandson John Needham, his wife, Alison and their two boys Emmet and Jacob. She is also survived by her sister and close friend Jo McCarthy and her bother-in-law John Vernale. Evelyn was pre-deceased by her sisters, Sally and Jenny and brothers-in-law, Victor Biondo and James McCarthy.

Evelyn also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews from Connecticut, Florida as well as North and South Carolina and New York, and her dear in-laws, Earl, Shelby and Mary White in North Carolina.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8PM on Tuesday, October 2nd at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave in West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, October3rd at Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St. in Farmington. Everyone is requested to meet at Church.
