Obituary for Eugene "Gene" Curylo

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Eugene "Gene" Curylo on November 19, 2022 after a long and painful battle with Parkinson's Disease. Gene was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 9, 1941 to Bruno and Helen Curylo. Soon after they moved to West Hartford where he lived until he married his best friend, Patricia Cavanaugh Curylo, after which he moved to Tolland where he raised his two sons. After he married, he went to work for Western Electric, then AT&T, and stayed with them until he retired after 30 years. During his spare time, he volunteered for the Tolland Volunteer Fire Department as an EMT, then became part of the Fire Police. Along with volunteering, he was also an avid HAM radio operator, and was able to connect with people around the world.

Besides his wife Pat of 56 years, Gene is survived by his sons, Christopher L. Curylo and grandaughter Ashley Rose Curylo and Matthew D. Curylo, his wife Jamie Curylo and grandaughter Adeline Bella Curylo. He is also survived by his sister Barbara McCaffrey. Gene was predeceased by his brother Ronald Curylo.

Calling hours will be held at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford on Saturday, (November 26) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
