Ed and Kate married in 1955 and lived in New Britain for a few years before settling in Newington where they raised their family. They were also summer residents of Lake Hayward for more than 50 years. In his retirement Ed enjoyed spending winters in Florida and Arizona. Ed's life was greatly enriched by his eight grandchildren. He was proud of each one for their accomplishments in school, sports and other activities, and enjoyed every moment with them. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Ed is survived by his four children and their spouses, Ann McGuiness and William "Chip" Reynolds of Selkirk, NY; Patrick and Nancy (Borton) McGuiness of Glastonbury; Mary Kate (McGuiness) and Matthew Hallisey of Glastonbury; and Timothy McGuiness of Old Lyme; and his eight loving grandchildren, Nora and Nicholas Reynolds; Ian and Brendan McGuiness; Maeve, Jack and Colin Hallisey; and Eamonn McGuiness.
