Dorothy Francis  "Dottie"  Murray
Dorothy "Dottie" Francis Murray, 80, of Hartford and Harwich, MA, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Dorothy (Kearns) and Thomas Francis Murray, she attended St. Augustine School and Bulkeley High School in Hartford. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dottie began her working career at Hartford Hospital, then at Life Insurance and Marketing Association. She moved on to the American Institute for Research in Pittsburg, PA and then to the psychology department at OSU. Dottie loved all types of sports and music, especially jazz, the New York Yankees, Hartford Whalers and the UCONN Women's and Men's Basketball teams. Her interest in art and theater led to her position as volunteer Treasurer of the West Hartford Jazz Society, and she volunteered as advertising director for the Oval in the Grove Summer Theater. Dottie leaves behind members of her beloved family; Patrick James Murray and his wife Kathleen Binkowski Murray, Thomas Henry "Tim" Murray and his wife Irena Debowski Murray. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Peggy Murray DiCioccio. Auntie Dottie also leaves her nephews, Michael Murray, Richard Murray and his children Sean and Andrew; Peter Murray and his wife Lisa and their children Aidan and Brendan; Thomas DiCioccio; her nieces, Laura Julia Mlodzinski and her husband Donald and their children, Jack and Seth; Irena-Marie Stamilio and her husband Joel and daughter Kyla. She also leaves a brother-in-law Frank DiCioccio. Dottie also leaves special friends, Anna Debowski, Maureen and Cliff Northern, Sue Duffy, Linda Mercer, Joyce Decker, Diana Forrest and Nancy Boyton. Among her Greater Hartford Friends are those previous and current employees of LIMRA International and the "Golden Girls Group", Jean Zito, Helen Bassano and Sue Mayfield. She was also predeceased by three members of the Golden Girls, Peggy Duffy, Shirley Wolf and Helen Nonowicz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday,(Aug. 12), 10:00 am in the Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hour will be prior to the Mass at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford from 8 to 9:30 am.
