Obituary for Doris (Daigle) Noel

Doris (Daigle) Noel, 92, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023. Born in Madawaska, ME, she was the daughter of Alphonse Daigle and Marie (Cyr) Daigle.

Doris grew up on a potato farm in ME, and then ventured to MA in 1950 where she worked as a nanny. In 1953, she moved to Hartford, where she met Paul, the love of her life. She worked for Royal Typewriter until she started her family and then later worked for Aetna. Her true calling however, was being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother at which she excelled and where she found her greatest joy. Her spirit would truly shine when holding a baby and her natural talent earned her the nickname of “the baby whisperer”. Another great talent where her love shined through was in her cooking. Everyone loved grandma’s cooking and her apple pie could not be beat. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing cards and fishing on the sound with her husband. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling across the country, camping in FL during the winters, playing petanque, reading, making puzzles and most of all spending time with family and cuddling all those grand and great-grand babies.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Leonard, Leo and Albert Daigle and her beloved granddaughter, Nicole Noel Freda.

Doris is survived by Paul Noel, her husband of 63 years; her four daughters and their spouses, Janice Montano (Peter), Jacqueline Wolski (Eric), Janet Noel Zaleski (Daniel), Karen Noel-Freda (John), all of West Hartford; her son Brian Noel of Newington; her grandchildren Brittany Leghorn (Jared), Kristen Amaral (Bryan), Lauren Bogoian (Jeff), Crysta and Cory Wolski, Dominic, Julian and Nickolas Zaleski; her great-grandchildren, Keira and Rylin Leghorn, Siena Amaral and Grace Bogoian; her sisters, Candide Sedlik, Albertine Riley, Germaine Cormier, Joanne Parent and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Janet and Josephine the aids who took excellent care of Doris over the last year. Also, thanks to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish for all the prayers and support, with special appreciation to Father O’Neil and Father Ahern. Doris’ faith was very important to her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday (March 23) at 10:00am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Ave, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave, Hartford.
