Obituary for Dianne "Dee" Braun

Dianne “Dee” Lucille Braun, 82, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023. She was born on October 24, 1940 to the late Robert and Cecile (Parent) Braun. Dianne was a dedicated Librarian at the Hartford Public Library until her retirement in 2002. An avid reader throughout her life she always kept a supply of novels on hand to satisfy her passion.

A dedicated parishioner of St Brigid Church in West Hartford, Dee served for many years as a religious education teacher, Eucharistic Minister and choir member. She lived her faith and always strove to help those in need. An animal lover, she rescued and cared for her furry companion Miss Kitty for many years.  

In addition to reading Dee pursued many hobbies over the years including: skating, crochet, puzzles, cards, swimming, lake and beach retreats and travel. She had a strong sense of humor and was known for making everyone laugh.

Besides her parents, Dee was predeceased by her sister, Colette Ostapko and brother, Paul Braun. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Philip Ostapko; nephew, Doug Ostapko and spouse Shumbriar; nieces, Lori Vahey, Cheryl Eagan and spouse Michael, Lisa Stone and spouse James; seven grandnephews and grandnieces, Stephanie Stone, Aidan Ostapko, Hannah Ostapko, Matthew Eagan, Julia Stone, Kelly Eagan and Jameson Stone, as well as many beloved cousins and friends. She was loved by all and will be missed!

Calling hours will be Thursday, (May 4), from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, 11:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 1083 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Entombment will be in Mt.
