Obituary for David Justin Chappell

David Justin Chappell of Newington passed away on January 16, 2019. He was born in Hartford on November 18, 1957 and was a 1975 graduate of Simsbury High School. He is preceded in death by his father David L. Chappell, a brother-in-law, William E. Hiser, and his wife Elizabeth (Reale) Chappell who he met while playing darts at the Spigot Café in Hartford. They proved to be fantastic couple and were married for 36 years until her death in August of 2016.
David loved baseball especially the Yankees and he followed the New York Giants football. He also enjoyed playing games and meeting people. In addition to darts, David was an accomplished duckpin bowler, and took up golf in his later years. He is remembered as an avid online golfer who made friends all over the world including Carol Santapaula (Sweeden), Charlie Lindzen (Sweden), Frank Harneshaug (Norway), and Alan Hughes (Ireland). He was fortunate to be able to travel to meet some of them.
He was an excellent cook who will be remembered for his holiday cheesecakes and roasts. David worked as a four-slide machinist for numerous companies including Handee Spring where he worked with his wife.
He leaves behind his mother, Justine P. Chappell (Jacksonville, FL), and two sisters, Ellen C. Hiser (Jacksonville Beach, FL) and Susan L. Chappell (Ayer, MA) as well as a nephew, Zac Hiser and niece, Hannah Hiser, both in Ohio.
He also leaves an extended family of in-laws, Bob Reale and Kimberly Staley (West Hartford), Joanne (Reale) Stoddard (East Hartford), Mary and Dennis Udice (Newington). David was an uncle to three nieces, Kellianne Reale, Kayla Staley, and Laura Udice, and six nephews Benjamin Stoddard, Peter Reale, Carson Reale, Jordan Staley, Tyler Mack, and Michael Udice.
