Obituary for Daniel F. Ragnoni, Sr.

Daniel F. Ragnoni, 92, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully surrounded by much love and a warm fire on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2023. Dan joins his true love and wife of 66 years, Eileen, in heaven.

For all who knew him, Dan was the true definition of integrity, strength, and kindness.

Dan was born in Hartford, CT on August 4, 1931, and was the son of the late Dorino and Annunziata Ragnoni. He grew up in the Parkville section of Hartford, attending Our Lady of Sorrows School and Hartford Public High School. Dan lost his father when he was a young boy and became a source of strength for his mother helping to provide for their family. He found great joy in sports with neighborhood friends and playing and refereeing in church leagues.

Dan found his professional calling when he joined Dynamic Controls, a privately held aerospace electronics manufacturer in South Windsor. He was one of its first employees starting as a tool and die maker on the shop room floor.  He rose to lead quality control engineering during the firm’s growth years, and topped off his remarkable 37-year career by heading all of manufacturing for the firm. He was beloved by his team and co-workers due to the deep connections he forged with people, hard work, humor, and commitment to excellence.

Dan was always helping others whether family, friends, or members of his community. He was very active in St. Brigid Church and School and was president of the St. Brigid Home School Association with his wife, Eileen. He loved coaching youth sports including many years of Little League baseball. He was a steadfast and enthusiastic sideline fan for his children and grandchildren. Dan also spent many wonderful moments in retirement with his Cornerstone pool community swimming laps and making friends. Dan and Eileen were true best friends and always “on the go.” Travel was a shared joy, and they spent many wonderful days with friends and family at the Cape, Misquamicut Beach, Ogunquit, Daytona Beach, and Aruba.

Dan leaves behind his three children; Daniel Ragnoni of West Hartford, Mary Kate Eanniello and her husband Victor of West Hartford, and John Ragnoni and his wife, Elizabeth of Needham, MA. In addition, he leaves six eternally grateful grandchildren; Victor Eanniello and his wife Carly, Maximilian Eanniello, Molly Eanniello and her fiancé Paul Fracasso, and Jack, Michael, and TJ Ragnoni. He also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Frank, his sister, Doris, his daughter-in-law Victoria (Zaremba) Ragnoni, his sister-in-law Lillian Hussey, and his brother-in-law John Sheehy.

Our family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care of Dr. Todd Alekshun, Dr. Charles Rutter, and the wonderful hospice care team from Hartford Healthcare at Home.
