Daniel Kenneth Johnson, of West Hartford, CT, died peacefully on February 6, 2019 at the age of 65. Dan is survived by his wife, Grace Walsh Johnson; children Eliza Johnson of West Hartford, CT, Abigail and husband Dennis Dilks of Cherry Hill, NJ, Marc Johnson of Anderson, SC; grandchildren Hudson and Conrad Dilks; brothers Stephen Johnson and wife Claudia Hallas, Robert and wife Debra Johnson; sister Sharon and husband Craig Bell; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Henry and Noella Johnson. After obtaining a degree in computer science he worked in electronics and IT for 40 years. A true family man, Dan taught his children the value of hard work and the importance of enjoying time together. They spent years camping and hiking all over the country, skiing the mountains of the north, and playing sports with him and Grace as their coaches. He always valued his time with his friends and siblings fishing off the shores of CT and as a member of the Rockledge Men’s Club spending hours on the golf course playing and messing up his swing with choice words. His free time was spent working on projects around the house, volunteering at AARP, and helping anyone who was in need. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1655 Boulevard, West Hartford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Lung Association or American Heart Association. Online condolences may be made at

We are so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort, Jehovah, look after you during this most difficult time. In the book of Revelation 21:3,4 there is a beautiful promise he gives where he says that soon will come a time when death, mourning, and tears will be no more. May thoughts and scriptures like this be of comfort to you during this most difficult time.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Dan. I have some great memories of golfing with Dan, at Rockledge and on several Florida trips. He was a good man and will be missed. Rest In Peace Dan.

Dan was a great friend and coworker. He adored his family with Grace and spoke so highly of each one of the children and all of their accomplishments. Dan glistened when we spoke about being grandparents.

May God Bless the entire Johnson family as they mourn the loss of such a fabulous man!

I owe a very large piece of where I am today due to Mr. Johnson as I always referred to him while in the office, he was one of the people that helped me get the position that today has provided very well for my family. From speaking about raising kids, politics, money management to our special Christmas tradition I always walked away learning valuable life lessons. My only regret is that I was never able to take Mr. Johnson on the boat for fishing, it hurts that did not happen.

Fair winds and following seas Mr. Johnson, I will miss you and thank you for everything.
