Daniel “Dan” Cabral DeFreitas (Freitas), 58, of Hebron, CT, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, after a battle with cancer.

Dan was born on August 20, 1964 to Helena and Jose DeFreitas in Santa Maria, Acores, Portugal.

After graduating from Prince Tech Vocational School, he worked in the automotive industry for 40 years. When Dan wasn’t working on cars, he spent his free time fishing and relaxing at the shore with his family.

In 1982, he met the love of his life, Clara. They wed in 1990 and went on to have two children, Katarina and Jordan.

Dan was predeceased by his parents, Helena and Jose. He is survived by his wife, Clara, and their two children, Katarina and Jordan. He also leaves behind his sister Irene and brother-in-law John Carreiro and their two children Johnny and Alexis Carreiro; mother-in-law, Clara Rivera; sister-in-law Nina Rivera and Deion Smith and their children Christian, Gabrielle and David Smith; and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 9:00am to 10:15am. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street in East Hartford at 11:00am. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
